The Story
I started my wine journey at 18—purely educational, of course! (No wine before 21, obviously).
Growing up on my family's dairy farm, I never imagined that my true introduction to wine would come at Millbrook Winery, where I worked as a tasting and tour guide. It was there that I realized how much more there is to wine than just what’s in the bottle. I quickly became fascinated with the stories and memories tied to each glass and varietal. A passion was born.
At the University of South Carolina (Go Cocks!), I completed my introductory Sommelier course with the Court of Master Sommeliers while working as the house sommelier-in-training at a local restaurant, Arabesque. During the summers, I would return to Millbrook Winery, except for one adventurous summer spent working at my Aunt & Uncle’s restaurant, Lavelle’s Bistro, in Alaska. There, I managed the cellar, helped with events, ordered wine, and created programs to boost sales.
After college, I moved on to The Yellowstone Club in Big Sky, MT, to learn from seasoned sommeliers and complete my Certified Sommelier course. Surrounded by some of the world’s finest wines, I deepened my expertise in both service and creating unforgettable wine experiences.
In New York City, I worked with Empire Merchants, the largest wine distributor in the city. I learned the ins and outs of the distribution side, advising restaurants and bars on wine lists, ordering, and staff training. I also earned my WSET 1 & 2 certifications to further sharpen my wine knowledge.
Today, I live in Williamsburg, NYC, where my full-time job involves hosting events for tech companies, interviewing celebrities, and crafting unique networking experiences. It was from this work that WinEvents was born. If you're wondering about the name—“Win” comes from my last name, Baldwin, and adding the “E” from events makes it WineEvents!
In the future, I plan to turn my family farm into a wine production facility called WinEstates. But in the meantime, I’m here to help elevate your events with my knowledge and expertise.
